Savage Beat
Savage Beat
It all started out as a hangout rehearsal room project. Rogier, formerly of The Shining and The Works, made a few demos channeling his love of early oi and streetpunk music. He recruited a bunch that has been playing in various bands for the better part of twenty years. Lionn and Paul (Wanderlust) on drums and rhythm guitar, Steven (The Kickers, Lords of Altamont) on lead guitar and Marko (Heros n Zeros, The Works) on vocals. Six songs recorded in early 2017 ended up as a 12" record, a CD and a cassette tape, respectively in France, Holland and Germany. That's when this musical project turned into a real band. The sound evolved too, incorporating influences from garage, glam and pub rock.  Shows all across Holland ensued, with opening slots for legendary acts as Peter and the Test Tube Babies and Bonecrusher and a wild weekend of shows with our friends from Paris Squelette. At the end of 2018 they released a split 7" with Concrete Elite that sold out in a heartbeat and appeared with three songs on the compilation 'Oi! Ain’t Dead' on Rebellion Records from Den Bosch.February of 2019 sees the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album 'Wired' again on Rebellion Records. Original guitar player Paul left the band to peruse his love of roaming the deserts of the American southwest and is replaced by another scene veteran Jeroen (Bratpack, Need). To promote their album Savage Beat will do a record release party at the premier music venue in Amsterdam, the legendary Paradiso. Weekend shows in France, Serbia and more are locked in for the spring while in July they will do an epic tour of USA and Canada with Portland's Death Ridge Boys.
Street Boogie. Dig it.
Death Ridge Boys
Death Ridge Boys
The seeds for Death Ridge Boys were planted years ago with Will Harris (Copout, Talk is Poison, Pressing On), as he sought to sow seeds of punk dissent and the working-class struggle with a more traditional punk, oi sound. As 2017 ushered in a new era of fascism and Pressing On went on hiatus, Death Ridge Boys established roots with their debut “Right Side of History”, a treatise against the rise of hate, racism, environmental destruction, and the right-wing fever. Rounded out with Erik Trexel (Pressing On, Raw Nerves), Jonathan Hughes (Pressing On, Raw Nerves) and Andrew Compton (PMS 84, Petite), Death Ridge Boys are adding their voice to the soundtrack of dissent and resistance.
